Osteopathy after sports injuries?
Osteopathy is extremely well suited to the treatment of sports injuries.
The body of a sportsman or -woman functions differently from that of someone who does not do sport, because different things are required of it. During sport your body enters a mode of higher activity, during which certain functional aspects are of particular importance, namely: coordination, stability, concentration, muscle strength, metabolism (diet etc.) and perseverance. For sportsmen and -women it is extremely important that their bodies are in balance. If this is not the case and there is a deficit in one of the above aspects, then injuries can often start to occur.
Unfortunately, by then it is already too late, because once an injury has occurred it needs first need to heal before you can take up your sport activity once again. Prevention is therefore better than cure. Osteopathy can help after the occurrence of an injury, but in particular to prevent injuries happening in the first place.
Do you have the feeling that you are not in balance? Don’t hesitate to call me!
During my career as a physiotherapist I have specialised in the treatment and guidance of (top) sportspeople. I am now able to use that experience in my work as an osteopath.
I myself am a sports fanatic – namely tennis, squash, cross-fit and running.

Which sport-related problems can osteopathy help?
Osteopathy is an effective treatment method for many sport-related problems.
It is particularly suited to problems that show a lack of improvement or frequently return. It can also be used to treat medically unexplained problems, and is therefore an excellent addition to conventional medicine.
Sport-related problems that I treat with osteopathy include:
- Back/neck complaints
- Groin, hip, knee and ankle problems
- Stress-related symptoms
- Reduced sporting capability
- Hormonal issues
- Shoulder/elbow and/or wrist problems
