What is osteopathy?
Osteopathy involves investigating and treating your physical complaints. The body consists of many different systems, because all our tissues (organs, bones, nervous system) are connected with each other and form a whole.
These systems include the musculoskeletal system, the brain and nervous system, the hormonal system, the functioning of our organs and our metabolism… and more.
All these systems work closely together to ensure that we remain healthy and can function well. The osteopathic approach is that you cannot see these systems as separate from each other. When a new client with physical problems arrives, the osteopath will investigate all their tissues for their mobility and their relationship to one other. If we are in balance, then we will not exhibit any symptoms, but in today’s society, it is hardly surprising that we are often out of balance. Stress, an unbalanced diet, working for long periods behind a computer etc. can be factors that throw us off kilter. Our body reacts to this by functioning less well and physical symptoms are the consequence.
The underlying cause of the appearance of symptoms, the osteopath often discovers, is a lack of movement in the tissues, or a blockage of functioning the organs, all of which can be investigated and treated using osteopathy. He will do this using manual techniques. In so doing, he stimulates the self-healing potential of the body.

What symptoms can be helped by osteopathy?
With osteopathy we do not treat illnesses, but rather seek to discover the causes of your symptoms. This means that the area in which the restriction of movement has occurred can be restored to full movement, so that it can carry out its original function.
Osteopathy is an effective treatment method for many different complaints. It is particularly suited to problems that show a lack of improvement or frequently return. It can be used to treat medically unexplained problems, and is therefore an excellent addition to conventional medicine.
Problems that can be effectively treated with osteopathy include:
- Back/neck problems
- Headache/migraine symptoms
- Stress-related problems
- All types of jaw complaints
- Stomach and/or digestive complaints
- Allergies
- Hormonal problems
- Hip, knee and/or ankle symptoms
- Shoulder/elbow and/or wrist symptoms
